StoneLake Farm offers several different opportunities for artists interested in pursuing their creative endeavors at our homestead.

1. Octagon Residency. We offer discounted artist rates at our octagon. The Octagon is a perfect place to finish your novel, solidify your script, paint, weave, give your mind the space it needs to create and nurture nascent ideas. Artist rates are as follows:
Weekly: $200
Monthly: $600

2. Architecture Residency. We are currently offering residencies to architects and designers interested in building sustainable small living structures. The resident will live in the area in which they will build. After getting a sense of the place the individual will propose a building project for the site and collaborate with us on the final design. We have many building materials that can be recycled and encourage residents to reuse whenever possible. We also have a small construction stipend for projects that are accepted. Average residencies are between 1 - 3 months.

3. Off the Grid Inspired Art Residencies. This residency is a unique opportunity for artists working with ideas related to sustainable living practices to experiment and actualize their conceptual frameworks. Whether you are attempting to create a bicycle powered film exhibition space, a solar powered light sculpture or the composting toilet of your dreams this residency is for you. Residents can choose to camp or stay in our modest barn apartment. Residents are welcome to utilize our vast supply of building materials and we encourage this kind of reuse whenever possible. No stipends are available for this residency. Average residencies are between 1 - 3 months.

Our residency program does not include meals, however if residents are interested in working 10 hours a week in the garden and around the homestead,if needed or for an extra fee they are welcome to eat the bounty from the garden, share in our farm fresh egg cache and savor the flavor of fresh goat milk and cheese (when available).

Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. Please allow two months for your application to be processed and take this into account when proposing dates for your stay.

If you are interested in applying please send a resume, sample of past work (writers can send a 5 page excerpt of writing, artists can send up to 5 digital images, and filmmakers can send via USPS a DVD sampling of their work), and a letter of interest that includes the following:
1. Approximate dates of stay.
2. Type of residency you are interested in.
3. Outline of proposed project including inspiration and future plan for project.
4. Two references with full contact information.
5. Mode of transportation. You can arrange with us to be picked up in Arcata if you are traveling by bus, plane or car sharing.
