StoneLake Farm offers internships to individuals interested in getting
back to the land. Help on maintaining a family homestead with tending
the organic garden, trail maintenance, barn cleaning, goat tending,
shearing and milking, assorted construction ventures, assist artists
in residence, fence mending, alternative energy system maintenance,
firewood gathering, harvesting polewood and forest management are
just some of the projects our interns undertake while living at
our farm.
Interns
will learn the basics of how to live off the grid, composting, permaculture,
ecological land use, simple outdoor living skills, solar baking,
and how to harvest, prep, and cook the bountiful foods the land
provides. We only focus on small scale production to support the
family, animals, and guests on the farm.
Interns
are required to work 4 hours a day, 5 days a week on a variety of
projects that depend greatly on the seasons. There is ample time
to explore and adventure around the land, creeks and rivers, learn
new skills, read, relax, cook, nap or just be.
Interns
can choose to either camp or live in our pop-up camper. Interns
are responsible for preparing their meals and any special foods
they would like to bring. The farm provides the vegetables, eggs
and dairy when in season. We also provide all the staples condiments,
grains, and baking supplies in the stocked kitchen at intern camp.
There are group meals as well with artists and other groups and
you may participate in these meals and we may request help with
the cooking and clean up with these gatherings. We are looking for
independent folks who are comfortable with remoteness, outdoor living,
new ideas, and a good days work. We only host 1 or 2 interns at
a time with the busy seasons being spring and fall so be prepared
to enjoy alone time.
Interns
are welcome to feast on farm fresh eggs, veggies from the garden
and fruit from the orchard.
If
you are interested in participating in our dynamic hands-on program,

are traveling by train, plane or car sharing if staying more then
two weeks.
